I. Importing Data Using Sync:



Your  First Sync Download:


The first download requests a large date range.  The download time required depends on the amount of data.  If the request is too large and the server is busy then the process might time-out.


Consider reducing your first request to the prior tax year until today.  From the Sync menu, Sync/Change Date Range



Change the From Date to the beginning of the tax year of interest. 



When finished return to this menu and change the setting to Automatic.  This way TAPro will manage the "To" date.


The Sync Download Steps:


  • Select Sync (from any of the places offered). 

  • TAPro contacts the site and wait for a response.

  • The performance of the download process depends on the time of day, the number of users accessing the shared server and the speed of your internet connection.  For this reason we recommend a first download early in the tax season and during off-peak hours.

  • After the response is received, it is processed by the receiving server.  The first check is for a valid Username/Password.

  • When TAPro receive a response the message and results are displayed.



II. Import Data From a File:


You can download a .OFX/.QFX "Money/Quicken" file and import it.  For more details visit the supported brokers page - Click Here


You can also import a .QIF or .CSV files but each are a bit more work.  We recommend using saving the data as "Tab" delimited.  View our training videos for more details - Click Here


To import a file select File/Import/File:



The TAPro import utility is flexible.  If you are using Excel then save the data as "tab delimited."  Then during the import process select "Tab" as the delimiter of the data.


When you start an import select the file that you want to import and TAPro will determine if it needs guidance.  If guidance is needed then follow the steps in the menus that appear.  At the beginning of the process create a new profile name or select an existing profile.  TAPro will attempt to reuse this profile for each import of the same type file to the same account in TAPro.


If there is an error in your profile you may need to select the Edit check box during the import process so you can make changes.  To remove a profile select "Import Rules/Profile Manager" from the File/Import menu. 



III. Enter Data Manually:


You can manually enter trades from the Transaction Screen by selecting the "Add" button.
